Metamorphs Enterprise Goals 1996

Overly idealistic plans written back in 1996, and never really looked at since. Though thought it might be interesting to check what more practical things in it that I did actually do, especially the software ideas. Or check if someone else had similar ideas and actually pursued them to implementation.

1 MISSION STATEMENT

To design life support systems for individuals and communities to enable them to survive in any environment. At the extreme this requires that humans remain inside a building enclosure at all times or within a capsule as they travel from one building to another. The systems range in size from a suit, to a vehicle, to a dwelling to an entire city. The environments range from land, sea and air, from hot sandy deserts to cold ice and snow fields, to the bottom of the ocean floor, to the surface of the moon, to free floating space station beyond Pluto. To stretch the legs of humanity, to re-invigorate their pioneering spirit, to enable them to travel the universe and to extend the life of humanity beyond the lifespan of the planet earth. In the first instance however the task is simply to mobilize humanity on earth and provide the world population with the means of surviving with a reasonable amount of comfort.

1.1 GOVERNANCE

To encourage the individual members of humanity to participate and contribute towards specifying and determining their own destiny. That they be involved in organizing the development of the nations, managing the world resources, and the development of their own communities. To discuss, design and produce written material documenting :
  1. A global ideology for democracy.
  2. Specify Land Usage.
    • The locations of all wildlife sanctuaries. (fauna and flora)
    • Specify location of industrialised city states.
  3. The functional design of cities.
  4. The organized provision for population expansion.

1.2 INFORMATION/EDUCATION

  1. Promote an understanding of technology.
  2. Introduce a commercial information study system.
  3. Improve the presentation, availability, speed of access, and ease of application of appropiate information.

1.3 CIVILISATION

  1. To benefit humanity by providing a secure and comfortable artificial environment in which to live. Thus implying provision of adequate access to food, clothing, shelter, and essential services.
  2. To contribute to world development. Making food, clothing and shelter readily available to all persons.
  3. Construct and develop industrialized city states.

1.4 PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

  1. To develop new products and services which improve the processes of informing, educating and qualifying persons for a rewarding life.
  2. Produce design concepts, analysis in the form of published books. Thus diminishing dependence on professionals and one off designs.
  3. Publish design manuals and analysis reports.
  4. Pursue research and development inorder to produce innovative product designs which can be licensed or sold to manufacturers.

1.5 INDUSTRY

  1. Promote the use of appropriate and more diversified energy sources, and the efficient use of fuels.
    • Increase application of alternative energy sources.
    • Decrease fuel consumption.
  2. Compact the industrial function of our cities into the smallest space possible.
    • Increase the use of materials handling equipment.
    • Reduce space consumed by transportation networks.
  3. Increase the viability of materials reclamation and recycling. And consequently the application of such

  5. Simplify the complexity of our technologically advanced society.
  6. Increase speed of access to and ease of application of information.

2 STRATEGIC GOALS(5 to 20 years)

2.1 REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  1. Constrain Industrial Cities to a 50km radial perimeter. With all important internal and external centres spaced on an hexagonal grid. {cities spaced 100Km c/c}
  2. To collapse industry into the smallest space possible, localising industry and recovering land from the road network for more beneficial purposes.

2.2 INDUSTRY

  1. Construction of Industrialised City States.
  2. Build Industrial Integrated Estates and Buildings.
  3. Build Used Goods HyperMarket.
  4. Convince industry that there are benefits to be obtained from smaller production facilities.
  5. Increase the viability of materials reclamation and recycling, and consequently the application of such technology.
  6. Avoid pollution and environmental destruction by designing products which are easy to maintain, repair and/or alter the function of without the need to recycle the materials.
  7. Develop products and services which can help achieve sustainable lifestyles in the south, most notably with respect to the rural thirdworld.

2.3 INFORMATION/EDUCATION/TRAINING

  1. To sponsor and found an international engineering scouts association.
  2. To sponsor and found an international institute of science engineering and technology.

2.4 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

  1. Promote the use of, and understanding of analytical modeling, and simulation.
  2. Educating the public about global management concepts
  3. Assisting the fight for human rights and equality.
  4. Promoting the learning of second languages.
  5. Promoting goodwill between the peoples of the world.

2.5 DESIGN AND ANALYSIS

  1. Given that 2/3 of the answer lies in putting the question clearly.
  2. Produce pre-printed reports that assist persons from all backgrounds to specify their design requirements clearly.

  22. Emphasize that technical designs are not merely guidelines for the production of the real thing, but that they are models. Models that can be used for analysis and optimization of the real thing. That the models do not have to be mathematical or computer generated.
    • Promotion of analytic modeling.
    • Set default standards in the presentation of engineering reports, most notably engineering calculations.
    • Produce standard designs for common product series, thus providing standard design-reports at low cost
    • Develop computer software that :

    • Provides for rapid and accurate analysis & assessment of designs.

      • Encourages standardisation of product components and product sizing.
  23. Publish a short technical and idealistic news letter which is distributed to select organisations. The purpose being to indirectly advertise the expertise we have by providing free advice and innovative suggestions.
  24. Encourage South Australian industry to reduce the size of its production plant, increase the distribution of its facilities, and to share sites with its suppliers. Thus reducing its dependence on road transportation, enabling it to operate a variety of production methods in its local facilities. Reducing the potential for large scale regional unemployment. Further reducing the regional concentration of industrial pollutants. And with products better adapted to local markets.
  25. Assist the restructuring of industry by designing the new site and plant layouts and the structural modifications of the buildings which house them.
  26. Promote the establishment of a large scale used goods and materials warehouse come supermarket. Especially on the basis of quality controller consumer protection, and alternative uses of discarded materials.
  27. Promote the construction of integrated industrial complexes providing common business and employee services.
  28. Promote the development of industrial communities.

  3. Develop and document a methodical approach to problem solving. Along with style for presentation of : Handbooks, formulae sheets, standard calculation sheets, computer programs, spreadsheets, databases.
  4. Collect functions & procedures together into standard files.
  5. Recompile all programs using the standard libraries.
  6. Develop product and service ideas which have the potential for earning a living wage.
  7. Conduct some broad based market research.
  8. Determine and acquire the resources necessary to set up and operate the
  9. Get University of SA to setup student innovation groups, which have the potential to develop into new business enterprises.
  10. Integrate domestic and business plans. That means also produce domestic plans. (ie. alterations/improvements around house, retirement plans, holidays{trip to Egypt, China, England}, working for pleasure, )

  3. Placement of steel or concrete panels across deserts as sand breaks, to alter dune formation.
